It has a built in navigation system called NorthStar Navigation and it uses it to map out the floors in your home and after it has the mapping completed it sets out on a methodical plan to sweep and clean your floors. Part of the system allows it to avoid danger areas and once those are identified it will always avoid them.

It is sweeper system and not a vacuum so you do not need to worry about having empty a debris cup all the time. Instead you will need replace disposable cleaning pads and wash the microfiber sweeping pad occasionally.

The Mint robotic cleaner is powered by a rechargeable Lithium-ion battery pack and it holds enough charge to power the 5200 sweeper for up to 4.5 hours of sweeping. The recharging of the battery pack is handled by the base unit and it take 8 hours to fully charge the batteries and then it will be ready for the next job.
